Sharing faith
Sharing our faith may or may not seem an obvious thing to do. | This thread (Sharing faith): |
How come you are a Christian?Think carefully how you came to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord. Take a break from the screen for a few moments and jot down in a few sentences how it happened for you.Notice what you have just done: you have remembered that someone took the time and trouble to witness to you about Jesus; and you have worked out, even if it is sketchy, what you might say to someone else about your experience (so it can be done!). Is it okay to be selfish, having received life, and not give it to others?

Each generationAsk yourself the following: "How long would it take for Christianity to totally die out if no-one shared their faith ever again?
Each and every generation needs to be witnessed to in order for the church to continue.
In the Old Testament the need to show each succeeding generation the works of God was recognised. See:

People are dying out thereIt is true that the church would fade away if no-one witnessed. But ultimately that is not the issue. The point is that everyone who does not hear the Good News and respond is doomed to die without God and will not live for ever with Him. Their eternity will be spent in misery.
Read John 8:21 - This was spoken to some people who would not follow Him.
Read Romans 10:14-15 -
Read Ephesians 2:1-2 - If this was true of us, then it is still true of others now. Does it matter that other people will die and miss out on life with the Lord for ever?

It's good newsRead Mark 1:15 -How would you sum up the Good News in just a few words?
Read Luke 4:14-21 - Jesus brought the Good News.
Read Acts 2:37-41 - Peter tells Good News. Think how we tell each other good things: so-and-so passed their test; you can get 20p off at Tesco this week; Norwich won on Saturday; etc.. It is natural to eagerly pass on what we know to be good news.

ObedienceIf none of the above grabs you then there is a simple answer to 'why bother?': Jesus has commanded us. Read Matthew 28:18-20 -Does this sound like a suggestion or a command? Since Jesus is our Lord then we have pledged obedience to Him.
